How do you know if you grind your teeth?
Your dentist can tell if you grind your teeth usually from the symptoms you tell them or they can tell by the visible signs of wear in your teeth. The night guard is often recommended to prevent any further wear from occurring and to also help alleviate the symptoms you have.
How are bite guards made?
Your dentist will take an impression of either your upper or lower teeth depending on your needs and then the lab will make a custom made mouth guard that’s fits your teeth.
It may take a few nights for you to get used to your night guard. If you don’t wear your night guard while you sleep, your symptoms can start to come back (and your teeth won’t be protected when you grind).
What symptoms should I look out for?
Grinding can lead to a variety of different symptoms, and can effect people differently. These symptoms can include (but are not limited to):
If you suffer from any of these symptoms and there are signs of tooth wear there is a good chance you may be grinding or clenching your teeth (and you may not even be aware this is happening!).
→ Headaches
→ Jaw Ache → Clicky Jaw
→ Pressure Behind Eyes → Ear Pain
→ Limited Jaw Opening → Upper Back/Neck Pain

Our happy patients
“Very friendly and helpful staff,
I definitely will recommend to others.”
“This was the first time I had met Anit and she gave me a very thorough check up and good advice re dental care. I will be returning to her soon for the follow up work to be done.”
“On arrival, receptionist was friendly and polite. The dentist also was friendly and polite she explained the treatment.”
“As a long-term patient at the practice, I have witnessed a lot of change over the years but the one constant is the professionalism and caring side of the practice. I and my family use Denplan and come twice a year for check-ups/hygienists and are looked after very well. Yesterday, on my regular check-up, a part of my filling had broken so I was back today to sort it. To say my anxiety was high was an understatement! But the dental nurse was amazing and with the wonderful dentist, they got me through it in a very subtle but successful way! Their patience was so appreciated! A huge thank you from me.”
Both the dentist and the hygienist were very pleasant. They listened to what I had to say and responded well.
